WHO

Current Desktop subscribers, at their next renewal.

The new prices apply to renewals on or after October 1, 2026, so your own date decides when you see them. Reports say legacy Enhanced Payroll renewals rise again on December 1; confirm with your account.

NOT CLAIMED

Desktop is not reported as discontinued.

One source cites Intuit saying the current Desktop version has no sunset date. This page does not say Desktop is going away; the change is the price.

What to do

A 3-step renewal check.

01 / DATE

Find your renewal date and the quoted price.

Open your Intuit account or the renewal notice. Write down the date, the number of users and the payroll plan, and compare the quote with the table above.

02 / COST

Add up the whole bill, not just the license.

Count users, payroll, any add-ons and the time your bookkeeper spends on updates, backups and file sharing. Compare the total with QuickBooks Online for the same headcount.

03 / ASK

Ask your bookkeeper before renewing.

Ask whether moving makes sense now, what it takes to move your company file, and whether your field-service tool (Jobber, Housecall Pro or similar) syncs with the version you will be on. Switching has a real setup cost, so renewing one more year can be the right call.
