What a 3, 8 or 15 person HVAC, plumbing, electrical or cleaning company pays a month for email, calendar, shared files and chat on each vendor, with the plan step that changes the bill.

Prices read Oct 16 to 24, 2026Reviewed by Worthd EditorialUS dollars, per user, per monthUpdated Oct 24, 2026
The short answer

An 8-person crew pays $56 a month on Google Starter or Microsoft Basic, $112 on either Standard plan, and $176 on either top plan. The list prices match tier for tier.

Google Workspace lists $7, $14 and $22 a user a month paid yearly. Microsoft 365 lists Business Basic $7, Standard $14 and Premium $22 for plans with Teams, effective July 1, 2026. The money is not in the list price. It is in what each plan includes: Microsoft sells Standard with Copilot at $23.50 a user, which is $76 a month more at 8 users. Paying Google month to month adds 20% ($8.40 on Starter).

Worthd arithmetic: users x the per-user price in Microsoft's pricing update for Business plans with Teams, effective July 1, 2026 (read Oct 24, 2026). That page does not say whether the prices assume a yearly term, and Microsoft's plans page returned an error when Worthd tried to read it, so confirm the term and any month-to-month price at checkout. Plans with Copilot are priced separately, below.

Microsoft 365 with Copilot

The bundle Microsoft puts in front of Standard buyers

On Oct 16, 2026 Microsoft's business plans page listed Standard with Copilot at $23.50 and Premium with Copilot at $32.00 a user a month paid yearly. At 8 users that is $188 and $256 a month, against $112 and $176 without Copilot. Those plans are a different product, so they are not in the like-for-like tables above.

What the difference costs

A year at 8 users

Yearly cost of each plan for 8 users at list price
8 usersPer monthPer year
Google Workspace Starter$56$672
Microsoft 365 Business Basic$56$672
Google Workspace Standard$112$1,344
Microsoft 365 Business Standard$112$1,344
Microsoft 365 Standard with Copilot$188$2,256

Google Standard and Microsoft Standard cost the same $1,344 a year at 8 users, so the plan step is not a reason to pick one over the other. Adding Copilot to Microsoft Standard costs $76 a month, $912 a year, and $142.50 a month at 15 users. Only pay it if the crew would use it.

Who Google fits

Crews that work from phones and tablets, share job photos and price sheets in Drive, and have no one editing big spreadsheets offline. Starter at $7 covers email on your own domain, calendar and 30 GB per user.

Who Microsoft fits

Shops whose office person lives in desktop Excel and Word for estimates or bids, or whose customers send Microsoft files. The desktop apps start at the Standard plan, so Basic is web apps only.

Who this is wrong for

When to ignore this page

A one-person business that is fine on a free mailbox does not need either plan. A crew whose field service app already sends quotes and invoices from its own address needs email mainly for the office. Switching a mailbox that already holds years of customer mail takes planning: see the migration notes on Google Workspace vs Microsoft 365.
