Short answerTax1099 charges nothing a year on its Essential plan and $2.99 per 1099-NEC for your first 20 forms. With a mailed copy to each subcontractor, that is $4.94 a form: $14.82 for 3 subs, $49.40 for 10.
The filing deadline for tax year 2026 is Monday, February 1, 2027, for e-file and paper filing, as Tax1099's 1099-NEC page prints it. There is no seat price: you pay per form, and the price per form drops after 20 forms. With the recipient's consent to electronic delivery, eDelivery at $0.50 instead of USPS at $1.95 brings the total to $3.49 per form.
Best forWhere it works well
A contractor who pays subcontractors from the bank, by check or from a tool that does not file 1099s, and has anywhere from 1 to about 150 forms to send. No monthly fee means a shop with 3 subcontractors pays for 3 forms and nothing else.
May not fitWho should look elsewhere
If Gusto or your accounting software already files every 1099-NEC you need, you may not need a separate filing service. Confirm that reportable payments made outside that system are covered too.

The pricing page prints several other ladders for other form types under one heading; only the 1099-NEC ladder is shown here. The page layout does not label each price with its range, so the ranges follow the page's worked layout.
Cost by number of subcontractors1, 3, 5, 10 and 15 subcontractors
For payments made in 2026, the general federal reporting threshold for nonemployee services is $2,000 per recipient. Backup withholding can require a form below that amount. Payment-card and third-party network transactions follow separate Form 1099-K reporting rules. Check the IRS reporting guidance and form instructions to confirm which payments belong on a 1099-NEC before counting forms.
Tax1099 cost to e-file one 1099-NEC per subcontractor on the free Essential plan| 1099-NEC forms to file | E-file + USPS mailed copy ($4.94 each) | E-file + eDelivery copy ($3.49 each) |
|---|
| 1 | $4.94 | $3.49 |
|---|
| 3 | $14.82 | $10.47 |
|---|
| 5 | $24.70 | $17.45 |
|---|
| 10 | $49.40 | $34.90 |
|---|
| 15 | $74.10 | $52.35 |
|---|
Worthd arithmetic on the free Essential plan: one 1099-NEC per subcontractor at $2.99, plus the recipient copy ($1.95 by USPS or $0.50 by eDelivery with the recipient's consent), before tax and before any add-on below. A shop with 25 subcontractors pays $2.99 on the first 20 and $2.59 on forms 21 to 25, so $59.80 + $12.95 = $72.75 to e-file, plus $48.75 for 25 mailed copies.

PlansEssential is free; Teams and Scale add users and tools
Tax1099 plans and annual fees| Plan | Annual fee | What the page says |
|---|
| Essential | $0 | Pay per form; no annual fee |
|---|
| Teams | $249 a year | Multi-user access; 250 free TIN matches |
|---|
| Scale | $349 a year | API, user management and Notice Management included; foreign mailing |
|---|
As shown on tax1099.com/tax-1099-efile-pricing, Oct 31, 2026. Teams includes 250 free TIN matches, which at the $1.00 real-time price is $250 of matching, so it is only worth $249 a year if more than about 250 name and tax ID checks a year is realistic. Few small shops need that.
Not publishedWhat the pages do not say
- Refunds and cancellation: neither the pricing page nor the 1099-NEC page says anything about refunds or cancelling. Essential has no subscription to cancel; for Teams or Scale, read the terms before you pay the annual fee.
- Direct-to-state fee: listed, not priced. The 1099-NEC page says the Combined Federal/State Filing program passes data to participating states "at no extra cost"; states outside it need a direct filing.
- Over 1,000 forms: quote only.
Both pages show a banner that Tax1099 is "IRIS-ready" for tax year 2026 forms; no price change is attached to it.
