Worthd exit check for trades shops

What does it cost to leave your field service software?

A 3 to 15 person HVAC, plumbing or electrical shop thinking about switching. Before you compare prices, check how much notice each vendor needs, what renews on its own, and what you owe if you leave early.

The short answer

The cheapest tool to join is not always the cheapest to leave: notice windows run from 30 to 60 days, and two vendors lock you in for a year even if you pay monthly.

Workiz and FieldPulse sell annual contracts. FieldPulse says you cannot end it before the term is up and needs 60 days' written notice to stop the renewal. ServiceTitan's default terms charge all the remaining payments if you leave mid-term. Jobber and Housecall Pro renew on their own too, but state no early termination fee. Miss a notice date and you pay for another period.

What one missed date costs

Two published prices, worked out

Only two of the five vendors publish plan prices, so only two can be worked out. A missed renewal date costs one more full period at the list price (Worthd's arithmetic, not a quote):

Plan billed annuallyPer monthOne more year if you miss the notice date
Jobber Grow, 5 users$229$2,748
Housecall Pro Essentials, 5 users included$149$1,788

Workiz, FieldPulse and ServiceTitan do not publish plan prices, so Worthd does not estimate them. Jobber's annual notice rule is 30 days before renewal; Housecall Pro states none, so ask support for the date in writing.

Before you switch

A five-step exit checklist

  1. Find your renewal date today and put the notice deadline in your calendar, not the renewal date.
  2. Send cancellation notice the way the terms say: email to the vendor's cancellation address for Housecall Pro, Workiz and FieldPulse. Keep a copy.
  3. Export customers, jobs, invoices and price book before notice takes effect, because several vendors do not promise an export.
  4. On Workiz, remove phone numbers from the account yourself: the terms say numbers left on it keep billing after the phone plan is cancelled.
  5. Start the new tool on a trial or monthly plan first, and run both for one billing cycle.
Who this is wrong for

If you are staying put, skip this: price and fit matter more. If you have a signed order form (common with ServiceTitan), read that instead: it can set a longer term than the default terms checked here.
