Jobber job costing: which plan has it and what the upgrade costs

Job costing is the profit-per-job view. It starts on Jobber's Grow plan, so a Connect shop pays $50 to $100 more a month to get it. Here is the exact gap by crew size, what you must set up first, and where it falls short.

The short answer

Job costing is on Grow, not Connect. A 5-person crew billed annually pays $229 on Grow vs $149 on Connect: $80 a month, $960 a year.

Core and Connect have no job costing. Grow adds it, and Plus includes it too. The profit bar is only as good as the labor rates and item costs you enter, and on recurring jobs it covers only the last 30 days.

The upgrade bill

What Grow costs over Connect, per month

Extra monthly cost of Jobber Grow over Connect by user bundle and billing term
UsersBilled annually1-year, billed monthlyNo commitment
1+$50 ($600 a year)+$50+$60
5+$80 ($960 a year)+$90+$100
10+$70 ($840 a year)+$90+$100
15+$100 ($1,200 a year)+$90+$100

Worthd arithmetic: Grow list price minus Connect list price for the same bundle, from getjobber.com/pricing on Oct 16, 2026. From Core (1 user) the gap is bigger: Grow is $120 more billed annually ($149 vs $29), $130 on a 1-year term and $150 with no commitment. People past a bundle pay $29 each on either plan, so that part of the bill does not change.

Before you pay for it

What job costing needs to show a real profit

InputWhat you have to do
LaborSet an hourly labor cost for each employee. Cost = that rate times the time on the job's timesheet.
MaterialsGive each line item a unit cost and a unit price in Products and Services.
ExpensesLog them on the job. Automatic receipt capture is a Plus feature (added Oct 6), so on Grow you type them in.

The result is a profit bar on each job showing margin, price and cost. Only users with the job-costing permission see it, and clients never do. Source: Jobber help center, checked Oct 16, 2026.

Where it falls short

Three limits that decide if it's worth $960

  • Recurring jobs: costs cover the last 30 days only, and Jobber says reporting on recurring job costs is not available. Cleaning and lawn shops get a rolling month, not profit per visit.
  • Old jobs: jobs created before May 4, 2023 do not pick up quote line-item costs, and labor cost only applies to timesheets created after you set the rate.
  • Garbage in: a job with no labor rate or unit costs shows a profit that looks fine and is wrong.
Worked example (illustration only)

When $960 a year pays back

A 5-person crew on annual billing pays $80 a month more for Grow. If your average job is $1,200 and nets 30%, one job leaves $360. The upgrade pays for itself if profit per job lets you reprice or drop about 3 under-margin jobs a year ($960 / $360 = 2.7). If you already know your margins from QuickBooks, the extra $960 buys less.

Who it fits

Grow vs staying on Connect

Grow fits a shop that quotes jobs with materials and labor and wants to see which job types lose money. Staying on Connect fits a shop that already tracks job profit in QuickBooks or a spreadsheet, or one that mainly runs recurring visits. If you want receipt capture and supplier-invoice forwarding as well, that is Plus: see Jobber's newest cost-tracking tools are on Plus, not Grow (Plus is $399 vs Grow $229 for 5 users, annual).

Frequently asked

Jobber job costing questions

Which Jobber plan includes job costing?

Grow. Jobber's pricing page lists 'Track profitability with job costing' first on Grow, and its help article says job costing is included in Grow and Plus. Core and Connect do not have it. Checked Oct 16, 2026.

How much more is Grow than Connect?

Billed annually: $50 more at 1 user, $80 at 5 users, $70 at 10 users and $100 at 15 users. With no commitment the gap is $60 at 1 user and $100 at 5, 10 and 15 users. Checked Oct 16, 2026.

What does Jobber job costing need to work?

Three inputs: timesheets (an hourly labor cost set for each employee), line items with a unit cost and a unit price, and expenses logged on the job. Without a labor rate or unit costs, the profit bar has little to show.

Does job costing work on recurring jobs?

Only partly. Jobber's help article says recurring-job costs cover the last 30 days, and that reporting on recurring job costs is not available. A cleaning or lawn shop will see a rolling 30-day figure, not profit per visit over time.

Does job costing show up on old jobs?

Not fully. Jobs created before May 4, 2023 do not pick up line-item costs from quotes or the products list, and labor cost only applies to timesheet entries created after a labor cost is set.

Is there a way to try job costing before paying?

Yes. Jobber offers a 14-day free trial of Grow with no card required, per its pricing page on Oct 16, 2026.
