Worthd cost check for garage door repair shops

Garage door repair software cost: what a 3-truck shop pays

Four tools priced from their own pages for a shop with an owner in the office and two techs on the road, plus a test of the "$200 to $500 a month all-in" figure that vendor blogs repeat.

Prices checked Nov 3, 2026Reviewed by Worthd EditorialUS dollarsUpdated Nov 4, 2026
The short answer

For 3 people the published subscriptions run from $600 a year (PowerDispatch Basic) to $1,788 (Jobber Connect or Housecall Pro Essentials) and $7,740 (Smart Service). Card fees can add $360 a month on top.

Workiz, the tool that markets hardest to garage door shops, prints no price at all. Housecall Pro is the only large vendor that names garage door shops and prints a price. PowerDispatch is cheapest, but its terms are dated 2016. Smart Service has a five-user minimum, so a 3-person shop pays for 5.

Worthd arithmetic from each vendor's pricing page, Nov 3, 2026. Jobber figures are from Worthd's Jobber pricing page. Housecall Pro's page prints $59, $149 and $299 billed annually and says annual saves $20, $40 and $30 a month; Worthd reads the monthly column as $79, $189 and $329. Housecall Pro also shows first-term promotions that are not in these totals. PowerDispatch labels its prices "Yearly pricing" and its columns carry no headers, so Worthd mapped plans by text order, and it prints no monthly-billing price. Smart Service's $548 is $645 less the 15% it says annual billing saves, Worthd's arithmetic and not a printed price; its volume discount is not published and its estimate excludes onboarding and data conversion.

Testing a popular claim

"$200 to $500 a month all-in" holds only if customers do not pay by card

Assume a 3-truck shop collects $12,000 a month in 40 invoices (an average of $300; this is Worthd's assumption, so replace it with your own). On Jobber Connect at $149 a month: all by card at 2.9% + 30 cents is $348 + $12 = $360 in fees, so $509 in total, just past the top of the range. Half by card and half by bank payment at 1% is $180 + $60 = $240, so $389. All by bank payment is $120, so $269. The card-versus-bank gap is $240 a month, or $2,880 a year, more than the whole Jobber subscription. Housecall Pro prints card rates "as low as 2.59%" and 1% on bank payments but not its per-transaction fee: at 2.59% alone, $12,000 is $310.80 in card fees, so $459.80 with Essentials at $149. Fees for seven other tools are in contractor payment software fees.

User rules

The line each vendor prints that changes your bill

Housecall Pro: Basic includes 1 user, Essentials 5, Max 8; only Max prints an extra-user price, $35 a month. Jobber: $29 a month for each person past the bundle. PowerDispatch: Basic caps technicians at 5 and office users at 1; an add-on for unlimited technicians is $19.90 a month billed yearly. Smart Service: five users minimum, $129 each at the starting rate. Workiz: no user rules printed.

What to read before signing

Where the cheapest tool and the biggest names differ

PowerDispatch's terms of service are dated January 14, 2016: subscriptions renew monthly, cancellation is by phone only, refunds end on day 5 and a reactivation costs $50 within 30 days. Its homepage also prints a "14 days cancellation fee" that the terms do not explain. Housecall Pro says no long-term contracts and cancel anytime. Workiz's published terms (read Oct 8) are a 12-month term with 30 days' written notice; see Workiz pricing.

Who it fits

Two techs and the owner answering phones, wants a printed price and a 14-day trial: Jobber Connect or Housecall Pro Essentials, both $1,788 a year billed annually. Dispatch is the whole job and budget is tight: PowerDispatch Basic at $600 a year, if the 2016 terms are acceptable. Already on QuickBooks with 5 or more users: Smart Service.

Who it is wrong for

Smart Service for a 3-person shop: the five-user minimum puts the floor at $7,740 a year before discount. Workiz for an owner who wants a number before a sales call. Any plan above for a shop that takes most payments by card without checking the fee: that line can exceed the subscription.

Frequently asked

Garage door software questions

What does garage door repair software cost for a 3-person shop?

From vendor pages on Nov 3, 2026: Jobber Connect is $149 a month billed annually ($1,788 a year), Housecall Pro Essentials is $149 ($1,788), PowerDispatch Basic is $50 on its yearly rate ($600), and Smart Service starts at $129 a user with a five-user minimum ($645 a month, $7,740 a year before its 15% annual discount). Workiz prints no price.

Is $200 to $500 a month all-in realistic for a 3-truck shop?

Only if some customers pay by bank transfer or check. On Jobber Connect, $12,000 a month in 40 invoices paid all by card costs $149 plus $360 in fees, $509 in total. If it all goes by bank payment (1%) it is $269. The $12,000 volume is Worthd's assumption, not a vendor figure.

Does Housecall Pro name garage door shops?

Yes. Garage Door is listed as an industry in the Industries menu of its site (it is not an option in the pricing quiz). Its plans are Basic $59, Essentials $149 and Max $299 a month billed annually, with 1, 5 and 8 users included and $35 a month for each user past 8 on Max.

Does Workiz publish a price for garage door shops?

No. Workiz names garage door and locksmith shops on industry pages but its plans say Request pricing. See Worthd's Workiz pricing page for the contract terms it does publish.

What are PowerDispatch's cancellation terms?

Its terms of service, dated January 14, 2016, say subscriptions renew monthly, cancellation is by phone only, and refunds end on the fifth day of a subscription. The homepage also prints an unexplained 14 days cancellation fee. Ask for the current terms in writing.

Does Smart Service work without QuickBooks?

No. Its page says it is designed for use with QuickBooks Pro, Premier, Enterprise and Online only, and its estimate excludes onboarding and data conversion.
